INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

HOT WEATHER

We have a policy of not sending children home early on hot days because the school is airconditioned. However we are advising parents that the air conditioners in our school do not cope with extended periods of heat and humidity. The staff and students are working under extreme difficulty and by the afternoon many children and adults are quite distressed. If this weather continues, where possible we would appreciate parents picking their children up early.

Most of the air conditioners in teaching areas are evaporative coolers. They have recently been upgraded.  We remind the students to drink lots of water and to play quietly in the shade at break times. Lessons in the afternoon are very low key. All of these things help but they are not a solution.

If you can offer your children a cooler environment at home we would respond positively. Please come to school to pick them up at lunchtime (12.40) or early afternoon, or send a note advising us that you give your child permission to come home at this or another time.
