What is
the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme? |
|
|
The IBMYP is an
internationally recognised curriculum, which was
developed by the International Baccalaureate
Organisation to ensure that international standards were
upheld within their schools.
The Middle Years
Programme (MYP) is designed to meet the educational
needs of students between 11 and 16 years of age and to
provide students with the values and opportunities,
which will enable them to make sound choices.
The MYP fosters
intercultural, environmental, social and personal
awareness and understanding, whilst encouraging students
to develop sucessful learning and communication
strategies. The South Australian Curriculum,
Standards and Accountability Framework (SACSA) supports
the MYP principles. |

What has
been happening at Direk Schools? |
|
|
We belong to a
cluster of schools, which consists of The Pines and
Salisbury High School.
Teachers at the three
schools have been undertaking intensive Training anf
Development in the principles of the MYP and exploring
ways of implementing the MYP into their classroom
practices.
As the programme
covers Years 6 - 10, teachers from The Pines and
Salisbury High will be working collaboratively with our
teachers to develop a common Scope and Sequence for all
subject areas to ensure that there is sequential
development of skills and understandings throughout the
five years of the MYP. |
|
| What does
the MYP mean for students at Direk Schools? |
|
|
In line with our
Vision of developing successful learners and responsible
citizens, students at Direk will be engaged in exploring
local and global issues. They will be provided
with a carefully developed and review curriculum that
spans both primary and high school years.
Students will be provided
with activities and opportunities to enable them to make
sound choices and well informed decisions about
themselves, their community, the environment and both
local and global issues.
