COMMUNITY & SERVICE |
At Direk Schools we
believe that Community and Service is an integral aspect of
‘real life education’ and promotes well-being not only for the
community but also for the students engaged in helping others.
As an aspiring IB school we try to integrate opportunities for
students to be involved in making a difference in their
community through the units of work they are covering in their
classrooms.
Students can be involved in activities such as peer tutoring,
library, bin, sports monitors, various student action groups,
choir, band, Water Watch and land re-vegetation. We encourage
students to identify problems in their community and develop
action plans for how they can work together to solve the
problem. All students in the Middle Years Learning Unit have a
Community and Service Booklet to record their activities and
verified times spent on activities.
Certificates will be awarded to students who reach specified
hours
10 hours = Bronze Certificate
15 hours = Silver Certificate
20 hours = Gold Certificate |
